Desert Thunder Elementary Mural

An educational mural for Desert Thunder Elementary in Goodyear, painted by a former public-school educator who knows exactly how a wall can teach.

Bald eagles, the school's own mascot, fly the arc of the learning pit across a desert of red rock mountains, saguaros, and turquoise prickly pear. The captions run in English and Spanish, matching the school's dual-language community: "Challenge accepted. Desafío aceptado." through "This is harder than I thought" and "I don't get it," to the climb out at "Wait a second!" and finally "Aha! Success! ¡Muy bien! ¡Tuve éxito!"

It is a growth-mindset lesson students walk past every day, painted at schoolyard scale.
